11.85 Data Collection From Capsule Endoscopes
The capsule endoscope is based around a camera embedded in a capsule that is swallowed by the patient. As the device passes through the patient’s gut system images are transmitted to an array of sensors attached to the patient’s body.
The technology is particularly useful in applications where examination with a conventional endoscope is difficult or disruptive – for example the examination of the small intestine.
