11.8 Post Cardiac Surgery Support
Patients who have recently undergone heart operations and are keen to maintain an active life use a GPS enabled mobile phone that enables them to contact a medical expert if the believe they are in danger of having a cardiac arrest. The phone has a sensor that measures heart rate and transmits data to a call centre. If the data show the patient is in danger the call centre operator arranges for the emergency services to attend the patient.
