11.16 Support For Dementia Sufferers
A mobile telephone tracking system is being used used to locate people suffering from mild dementia.
The tracking system works via a mobile telephone that the user has secured to them in a holster. If the person goes missing, their carer telephones the council's control centre and who can then pinpoint the person with the phone on the Global Positioning System (GPS).
The system could also be used to track patients within the healthcare system if they have been omitted without their relatives knowledge.
