11.45 Sleep Monitoring

Analysing a patient’s sleep patterns can be an expensive and time consuming exercise taking up a significant amount of a health provider’s resources if the patient is in a hospital. An alternative is to use wireless enabled sensors that can be worn by the patient in their own home. Data from these sensors is forwarded to a server maintained by the health provider. The patient can either be monitored remotely by a clinician or, in cases where the patient’s condition is not critical, the data can be stored for processing at a later date.
