11.49 Detection Of Septic Episodes
A wireless device attached to the patient monitors skin temperatures and pulse rate. A PDA, linked to the device, communicates via Bluetooth with a GPRS terminal that in turn relays the patients data to an application server. The patient can place the GPRS unit in their pocket should they wish to leave their house. The PDA can initiate an alarm signal if the data collected indicates an incipient infection.
